Chapel renovation in Westrum

In Westrum, the local chapel is being renovated with extensive underpinning using the so-called Soilcrete® process. In the course of soil surveys carried out by Rücken & Partner it was discovered that the rear part of the chapel was founded on non-load-bearing soil at a depth of up to 5.50 m, which had led to extensive cracking.

With these measures the chapel, which is more than 100 years old and to which an extension was added in 1965, after a lot of cosmetic treatment of the settlement cracks is now being properly underpinned and the building substance secured for the long term.
